After almost 20 years of silence from Tibet, when Chinas gate started to open for the west in 1980 Rinpoche received letters from the few surviving monks of the Chokri monastery to return home. The monastery had not survived the cultural revolution and had been totally destroyed. | |||||||||||||||||
| Only a few ruins were left. My parents decided to visit Tibet and made their first trip to Chokri in the Eastern Part of Tibet in summer 1986. With the help of the local people they were able to support the rebuilding of the Chokri monastery as well as to build a new clinic for the people. They returned to Tibet almost every three years and in 1999 both the monastery and the clinic were completed and inaugurated. I think of my late mother in deep love and respect for a person that has given so much love and compassion not only to us children and grand-children but to all others that needed her. |

| Together with my father she was the driving force to build a clinic for the people in Tibet. She has founded a trust called Friends of the Tsedön Clinic and is based in Switzerland. It was her wish that we carry on her project in providing the necessary financial support for the clinic to be able to run for the benefit of the local people. We are so grateful that that she was fortunate enough to have been able to see her project completed and inaugurated. | ![]() |
