BERNINA Sewing Machines have arrived at TCV in Dharamsala
Dear friends,
I am very happy about this great news from the General Secretary of the Tibetan Children Village in Dharamsala in India. Last October I got contacted by BERNINA Switzerland, that they would like to donate 15 of their older models for my DEWA CHE Foundation. We sent 10 of them to TCV in India and 5 of the to Tibet where we had started a Tailoring School in 2010. They all arrived and the students in India even had the chance to get a 2 day training course from Mr. Sabir one of the BERNINA staff in Delhi. My music is touching a lot of people all over the places. It makes me very happy that my music was also heard by the CEO of BERNINA Mr. Claude Dreyer who spontaneously felt he wanted to contribute to our social projects. As you can see from the letter of the General Secretary, these machines will give the students immense help to improve their sewing skills.
The attached photo shows me with Hanspeter Ueltschi, the owner of BERNINA at their opening of their new Flagship Store in Zurich in last October.
The letter from the General Secretary of TCV, Mr. Thupten Dorjee:
Dear Dechen la,As informed earlier, the 10 sewing machines have been received by our Handicraft Training Centre- Tailoring Unit. We are happy to let you know that L.N. Enterprises Mr. Ajay Gupta deputed Mr. Sabir from Delhi to come to Dharamsala to train our student trainees in the use of these machines from 8th to 10th of March. He was of course very helpful in training our students and the instructors as well. I am sending here in the attachment some photographs of the machines being unpacked and the trainings on-going. Happily back from New York!
Dear friends, we are back from New York. It was an overwhelming performance for me and my JEWEL Ensemble at the Annual Tibet House Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall. When Lou Reed told me after the rehearsal ...Your music is so exquisite and you are at the right place to sing... I was totally speechless. Also Philip Glass love our music and he said:.. Dechen la your music is great and you such a good orchestra. You should give a full concert of yours New York, I knew that he really loved it. Thanks to my Producer Helge van Dyk and my musicians Dieter Dyk, Jürg Zurmühle and Daniel Pezzotti we brought some magic into Carnegie Hall. Thank you all for having thought of us on Monday evening. Performing at CARNEGIE HALL New York
A dream comes true! What an amazing birthday gift! The legendary U.S. Composer Philipp Glass has invited me and my JEWEL Ensemble to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York on Monday, 13th February 2012. We are all overwhelmed and will be booking flights shortly to travel to New York together. We will be part of an exciting program with lots of other great artists that Philipp Glass is directing every year as a Benefice concert for Tibet House U.S. together with the famous Patty Smith and Band. CHILDREN BEYOND out SOON!
Dear friends, I am so happy to share with you the news, that our next album CHILDREN BEYOND with Tina Turner and Regula Curti will be released in the next few weeks by Universal Music Switzerland and Germany. It contains beautiful Prayers of the religious traditions of this world that we sang together with 30 children from the age of 6 to 13. They represent the richness of the different cultures and traditions and they made it all happen. Children are our future, and if we manage to nurture their little souls well with our love and compassion and a sense of belonging each one of them will be a shining star for peace in this world. JEWEL Concert in Lugano on 10th September 2011
